Frequently asked questions
Does it work offline?
Yes. Download your protocol set once and every protocol, medication, and hospital is available with no signal — built for basements, rural calls, and dead zones.
Are the protocols specific to my county?
Yes. Protocol sets are scoped by county and region across the United States and Canada, so every provider sees exactly the set that governs where they respond. You can add more than one if you run in multiple regions.
What devices is it on?
Pocket Protocols is built for iPhone and Android, launching on the App Store and Google Play.
Who is it for?
EMS providers at every level, from first responder to paramedic. Content is color-coded by scope of practice so you jump straight to what you are credentialed to do — using the provider levels your region actually uses.
Can my agency cover its whole crew?
Yes. Agencies buy access in bulk on a simple per-seat plan and each member redeems a personal code. See the For agencies page to get set up.
What does my subscription pay for?
Your subscription is for the app — offline access, search, cross-linking, and the interactive tools that make protocols faster to use in the field. The protocols themselves are public documents and remain free from your EMS authority; our Protocol Sources page links the official source for every set.
How do protocol updates reach the app?
When an EMS authority publishes a new protocol version and it goes live in Pocket Protocols, the app refreshes its content automatically — crews are never working from a stale copy. We monitor official sources for changes every day.
